Do they need to download an app?▾
Nope. Zero apps. They point their phone camera at the card, a link appears, they tap it, and the AR launches in their browser. We designed it this way specifically so your nan doesn't need to visit the App Store.
What phones does it work on?▾
Any iPhone 6s or newer (iOS 12+), and most Android phones from 2018 onwards. That covers essentially every smartphone in use today.
Can I send it directly to the recipient?▾
Yes — that's the whole idea. Enter their NZ address at checkout and we post it directly. You don't need to be in the same city, or even on the same island.
Can I send multiple cards at once?▾
Yes — each card goes through checkout separately and can be sent to a different address. Delivery is +$2.99 per card anywhere in NZ, or choose print-at-home on any card to skip the postage entirely.
How long does the AR last?▾
Your POP! experience is active for 30 days from the order date. If the recipient wants to keep it alive, just email us at
[email protected] at least 48 hours before the 30-day mark and we'll sort it out. Expiry keeps our compute and storage costs in check, which is what lets us keep prices low for everyone.
How is it so cheap?▾
That's the whole point. POP! is designed as a genuinely low-cost alternative to novelty gift items. More fun and personalisation but with less resource. Our cards are 100% recyclable.
I'm not very tech-savvy. Can I still do this?▾
Absolutely. If you can upload a photo and type a postcode, you can send a POP! card. The whole checkout takes about 4 minutes. The recipient just points their camera. That's genuinely it.
What about the energy used to generate the 3D models?▾
It's something we think about. Generating a custom 3D model uses roughly the same energy as a few minutes of scrolling social media — similar compute, similar data transfer. We offset this partly by expiring experiences after 30 days to reduce ongoing storage, and we're always looking at ways to run leaner as the technology improves.
What photo formats can I upload?▾
JPG, PNG, or WEBP — all work great. Any smartphone camera photo is plenty for an A6 card. For the photo-to-3D feature, a clear subject on a plain or simple background works best. For full print specs and tips, see the
print guide.
The "View in AR" button isn't working — what do I check?▾
If AR doesn't launch, the viewer will show you a help prompt with steps to fix it. The most common cause is camera permission — go to Settings → Privacy → Camera and make sure your browser is allowed. On iPhone, also check that iOS is up to date and that Screen Time or Low Power Mode aren't blocking it. On Android, make sure Google Play Services are current. The 3D model still works regardless — AR just places it in your real room.
